What does a 58v FICM do?
The higher output voltage of our 58v FICM forces the fuel injector to open more quickly, which allows the fuel injector to flow slightly more fuel than the lower/stock voltage unit. The quicker action of the fuel injector also slightly advances the injection timing.

The FICM uses a series of internal capacitors to turn the vehicle voltage (12-14.5 volts) into the 48-volt supply. If the voltage drops below 48 volts, the oil flow cannot be properly regulated and will result in improperly functioning fuel injectors and potential damage.

If the output voltage is less than a specific threshold, somewhere around 40 volts, the injector circuit low and FICM performance codes may set. If you are able to retrieve these trouble codes and prove the low voltage with the manual voltage test as described above, then it should be a safe bet to replace the power supply half of the FICM.
