What is the MDPT?
Mathematics Diagnostic Placement Test (MDPT)
What is MDPT test?
The Math Department Pre-Calculus Test (MDPT) is a Grade 12 math ability indicator for the Mathematics and Statistics department only. It is a closed-book exam that covers the major topics of BC Math 12: algebra, functions, equations and inequalities, exponential and logarithmic functions, and trigonometry.
Can you retake the MDTP?
Students who do not use their MDTP scores or grades within the three quarter limit will have to retake the MDTP. Note that placement is made on the basis of valid test scores or course grades, even if that placement is lower than course work previously completed.
How long does the MDTP test take?
approximately one hour
The recommended time needed for taking each test is approximately one hour, but there is no enforced time limit. There is no fee for taking these tests. There is no fee for the diagnostic scoring report. Nothing is downloaded to your computer.
Why is it important to study midline theorem?
The Midpoint Theorem is used to find specific information regarding lengths of sides of triangles. The Midpoint Theorem states that the segment joining two sides of a triangle at the midpoints of those sides is parallel to the third side and is half the length of the third side.
Why is midpoint important?
The midpoint formula is applied when one is required to find the exact center point between two defined points. So for a line segment, use this formula to calculate the point that bisects a line segment defined by the two points.
What is MDTP math test?
MDTP grade-level and course-level diagnostic assessments are designed to measure students’ mathematical preparation in foundational topics of the course students are entering, and/or to inform students’ preparation for their next-level course.
What does MDTP stand for?
The CSU/UC Mathematics Diagnostic Testing Project (MDTP) was jointly formed and supported by California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) in 1977.
Is the MPE multiple choice?
The math department also provides a “pencil and paper” MPE Practice Test for MATH 147/151/171 and MPE Practice Test Solutions for your use. The “pencil and paper” practice test is much like the web-based practice exam, except there are no multiple choice answers.
What is a good math placement test score?

How do I know if my child is ready for algebra 1?
Here are some of the math concepts and skills students need to master in preparation for Algebra 1:
- Fluency with basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
- A solid understanding of fractions, percents, and decimals–and how they’re all related.
- Ratio and proportion.
- Probability.
How do you use midline theorem?
Find the midpoints of two sides of a triangle. Cut along the segment connecting those two midpoints. Rotate the top triangle 180° about one of the midpoints. The two segments match because the cut was at the midpoint.
What kind of Math is on the mdtp placement test?
The math questions on the MDTP Placement Test test cover the following courses: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. Make sure your math review only includes the topics that are covered on the test – nothing more and nothing less. The best MDTP Placement Test test prep programs won’t waste your time on material you don’t need.
Is the mdpt being renamed mdtp?
THE MATHEMATICS DIAGNOSTIC PLACEMENT TEST (MDPT) WILL BE CHANGING ITS NAME TO THE MATHEMATICS DIAGNOSTIC TESTING PROJECT (MDTP) STARTING ON THE APRIL 22, 2017 TEST DATE. THE TEST WILL BE SERVING THE EXACT SAME PLACEMENT PURPOSES, HOWEVER IT WILL BE CALLED THE MDTP INSTEAD OF THE MDPT STARTING APRIL 22, 2017.
Is there a fee for mdtp tests?
MDTP has two on-line tests available for student use to help them prepare for Precalculus and Calculus level mathematics courses. There is no fee for taking these tests. There is no fee for the diagnostic scoring report. Nothing is downloaded to your computer. No log-ins or passwords required.
