Is PureLax and MiraLAX the same thing?
PureLax is the CVS drugstore-brand version of MiraLax, an over-the-counter laxative. It contains Polyethylene Glycol 3350 powder (“PEG 3350”) that is mixed with water and taken by mouth. It softens stools and relieves constipation by pulling water from the body into the intestines.
How long does it take for PureLax to work?
It may take 2 to 4 days after you have started this medication to have a bowel movement. Do not increase your dose or take it more frequently than prescribed. Also, do not use this medication for more than 2 weeks unless directed by your doctor.
What is PureLax made of?
Polyethylene glycol 3350 (PEG 3350) belongs to the class of medications called laxatives. PEG 3350 is used for the relief of occasional constipation. It works by softening the stools and keeping water in the intestines.
How do you take PureLax?
Purelax Dosage
- do not take more than directed unless advised by your doctor.
- adults and children 17 years of age or older:
- stir and dissolve one packet of powder (17 g) in any 4 to 8 ounces of beverage (cold, hot or room temperature) then drink.
- use once a day.
- use no more than 7 days.
Is Purelax habit-forming?
Polyethylene glycol 3350 may be habit-forming. Do not take a larger dose, take it more often, or take it for a longer period of time than your doctor tells you to.
Is it OK to take Prunelax everyday?
In order to treat occasional constipation, Prunelax® can be used for up to 7 consecutive days. PRUNELAX® TABLETS is safe for diabetics.
How long can you take Purelax?
Stop use and ask a doctor if: you have rectal bleeding or your nausea, bloating, cramping or abdominal pain gets worse. These may be signs of a serious condition; you get diarrhea; you need to use a laxative for longer than 1 week. If pregnant or breast-feeding, ask a health professional before use.
How long does it take for Prunelax to kick in?
