What does the MAP test measure?

MAP assessments are used to measure a student’s growth in Mathematics and Reading. The Fall assessment gathers baseline. The Winter assessment measures progress. The Spring assessment measures the students’ growth to that point.

Is MAP a universal screener?

MAP® Reading Fluency™ is an adaptive universal screening and progress monitoring assessment for early reading skills.

What is NWEA MAP testing?

The NWEA MAP Test (Measures of Academic Progress) is an adaptive achievement and growth test. It creates a personalized assessment experience by adapting to each student’s learning level—precisely measuring progress and growth for each individual student.

How do you prepare for a MAP test?

Before testing day

  1. Talk with your child’s teacher as often as needed to discuss their progress.
  2. Provide a quiet, comfortable place for studying at home without distractions from TV or other electronic devices.
  3. Make sure that your child is well rested on school days and especially the day of a test.

How accurate are MAP tests?

There are spurious correlations between individual achievement rates and MAP scores. One school’s recent results showed that the accuracy rate of students projected by MAP to score below standard on the state reading test was a miserable 47%. A coin flip would have better predicted their scores.
