All the new sets – battery and mains-powered – run at 9 volts, as opposed to the original 18 volts. This means the new cars, controllers and accessories are designed for 9 volts and are not compatible with the previous systems.

Will Carrera cars work on Scalextric?
To get them to run on my Scalextric Classic track all I do is remove all magnets (as I do with all brands, not just Carrera) and trim the guide, both in length and depth, to a similar size to that fitted to Scalextric cars.
