Pectrolyte Suspension is used for diarrhea, gastroesophageal reflux disease, diabetes and other conditions.
What tablets can I take for diarrhea?
Two types of meds relieve diarrhea in different ways:
- Loperamide (Imodium) slows the movement of food through your intestines, which lets your body absorb more liquid.
- Bismuth subsalicylate (Kaopectate, Pepto-Bismol) balances out how fluid moves through your digestive tract.
Does Pectrolyte stop diarrhea?
Simple over counter medicine may be helpful in relieving symptoms, such as Immodium, Pectrolyte or Smecta which help ease the diarrhoea.

Pectrolyte is an electrolyte solution with some pectin added to help bind runny stools, unfortunately it will not do anything to stomach cramps. Stomach cramps at that age is commonly not from pure physical causes. It is important to try and identify triggers for these cramps eg. exam stress etc.

Pectrolyte is a medicine containing kaolin and pectin which has been used for many years to treat diarrhoea in children and adults. The dose for your daughter is 2 and a half medicine measures (12.5 ml) given 3 times a day. No water needs to be added to the Pectrolyte.

Can Pectrolyte make you constipated?
I suggest that you stop the pectrolyte as it will only make you constipated again. Rather buy a good probiotic supplement and use it as directed. It does not sound as if you have a viral infection, so you are not contagious.
How much Pectrolyte Can I give my dog?
